While games are defined using simple rules and structures, it is what happens around the game that enthralls us.

This project sought to understand how rituals and traditions add meaning to competition.

Augmented Reality Gaming
Augmented Reality Gaming is an experience that bridges the digitaland the real. It recontextualizes space through narrative and action. A GPS enabled PDA moves you about an actual space building meaning through process.

Breese Stevens Field Project

The goal of this project was to re-inhabit a forgotten place, which has a significant history in Madison, Wisconsin. Using performance andradio, participants moved through the field space hearing the history of the sporting complex, a discussion of sports in culture, sporting event sounds, and interviews of those who have used the field. The project sought to allow people to access the field space giving them the opportunity to interact with that environment.

Game Table

A commision from the UW-Madison Campus Art Collabortive, this table is place of interaction between people and culutures. Using Western and Asian influences, the purpose of this game was to battle for the ability to transcend.

Lil Bo Peep Game

For Conart Zine and the 2005 Madison Zine Fest, this game placed sheep cards around a space that people used the internet to find. Once you found a sheep, you had to report it to the investigation team to claim your prize.

Decisions to be Made

Using the flip of a coin, this project sought to answer untangible questions. Is abortion wrong? Is Elvis still alive? These are types of questions that our culture seems to continue to ask and through this game we were able to gather results.

Game of Definition

This project is an effort to understand how we define ourselves and others. Through an interactive process, players and observers actively communicate using the game.
Similar to a game of rummy, the cards are collected to build a phrase, which describes a person in the game.

I/You

Similar to the Game of Definition, I/You projected defintions onto an audience member while the person looked at themself in a mirror.

In Between Spaces

In Between Space was concerned with television and video space. It sought to create a middle space between two monitors, which the audience could see through
and inhabit.

Putting Words in My Mouth

“Is there anything in your life that you might like to change?

With this simple questions the “Putting Words in My Mouth” project began. The project is a collaborative effort between the artist and selected participants to think about ideas of change. Participants were asked to write a simple request on a card. That information was displayed and read as a part of an exhibition. The reading was recorded for video distribution and was also broadcast via radio transmitter in an effort to effect change.

Sound Chair

Sound chair used five specific audio tracks that spoke to the participant. These tracks ranged from ambient noise to critical theory with the intent to confuse attention.

Lighting Design

This project was a hypothetical experiment to increase the output of workers in an office building. By planning with biorhythms using extreme light, workers could therefore extend their ability to produce.

Games Above Us

This project discussed power issues with in the gallery setting. A game was placed on an eight foot tall table forcing the audience to interact to gain accessibility.

Horoboard

Horoboard is a project that uses a game to think about yourself. Playing between reason and chance, participants interact in ways that reflect upon the past, present and future.
